Key Performance Indicator (KPI)
A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is a metric used to define an organization’s success toward achieving a specific goal. The metric can be financial, must be measurable and broad in scope or narrow in focus. Business intelligence software is often used to measure and monitor KPIs. Set to enable a corporation to evaluate its progress toward achieving its long-term goal, KPIs consist of a statement of the goal, a target and a time frame. And as always with metrics, expected, average and current statistics help to both set the goal and eveluate one’s performance toward it.
